Director Andrew Wonder recently shot a short film documenting guerilla historian and urban explorer Steve Duncan as he trekked through New York City’s underbelly, and it’s absolutely awesome.
Duncan brings Wonder down through the subway tunnels to an abandoned subway station, through a manhole to look at the canal that gave Canal Street its name, and all the way to the top of the Williamsburg Bridge — all of it while keeping an eye out for cops or city personnel who would arrest them for trespassing.More: Andrew Wonder’s ‘Undercity’ Short Film Takes You Underneath New York
It’s mind-boggling how much history lies buried beneath our feet. Certainly worth a watch, if you have the time.
Watched. Loved. Awed.
This is absolutely insane! However next time I’m in New York I won’t be jumping down any 200 year old sewers!
